New design for Parramatta Park Café revealed

Parramatta Park Trust has revealed designs for a new café with expansive views of Parramatta River that’s set to open in World Heritage-listed Parramatta Park

The new café set in the heart of the Park, will offer alfresco seating overlooking iconic “Little Coogee”, which was a popular swimming and picnic spot as far back as the 1880′s.

A modern light-filled interior with tall ceilings and feature skylight is also designed to create a relaxing natural ambiance inside while showcasing the beautiful landscape setting.

Plans for a new café in the Park have been highly anticipated since the former café site was damaged by fire in 2016 according to Suellen Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Parramatta Park and Western Sydney Parklands Trusts.

“This promises to be a place for the community and the 2.1 million visitors we receive annually to come together for different occasions, share great food and conversation, drop in for a coffee or relax and enjoy the splendour of the Park,” said Ms Fitzgerald.

“We’re proud of the design which is sensitive to and preserves the cultural and heritage values of the site. Award winning architects Sam Crawford and Associates have applied principles of design excellence to marry parts of the existing structure with the new contemporary space in a seamless and aesthetically interesting way whereby both the Café and the Park are complementary features”.

Stay tuned to find out when the new Parramatta Park Café will re-open to the public in 2021.
