Parramatta Park, via George Street Gatehouse entry.
This spectacular outdoor amphitheatre at the centre of Parramatta Park hosts concerts and events throughout the year, including The Crescent Summer Series of concerts and Sydney Festival's Symphony Under the Stars.
A major upgrade of The Crescent was completed in 2015, creating a lively, functional space that makes the most of its beautiful setting adjacent to Old Government House and the Parramatta River. In 2016, The Crescent was awarded the Civic Landscape Architecture Award at the prestigious NSW Landscape Architecture Awards.
The Crescent is a natural amphitheatre which once framed a small billabong on the bank of the Parramatta River. It is a site of national significance for its association with Aboriginal people as well as early colonial farming and grazing practices. The amphitheatre is connected by stairs to the Boer War Memorial and historic Bath House. Hold an Event
The Crescent is an efficient, purpose-built space for major events with capacity for 18,000 people. During summer, it becomes a 'plug-and-play' venue complete with concert stage and back of house - ideal for hire by festival organisers and music promoters.
