Lyall Gorman - Chairman

Mr Gorman has over 35 years experience in senior management, project management and administration in both the Public and Private sectors. He holds a Masters Degree in Administration (UNSW) with majors in finance, marketing and organizational management and administration.

Mr Gorman is the former Executive Director (2001 -2005) of an ASX listed public company (a merchant bank and investment holding company specializing in corporate finance, corporate advisory, strategic investment, property and asset management) and was formerly its Executive Director Finance and Administration. 

In June 2010 he was appointed by Football Federation Australia as Head of the Hyundai A-League and in May 2012 as the founding Executive Chairman of the Western Sydney Wanderers, a position he held until July 2014.

He currently undertakes the following roles:

Josephine Sukkar AM

Josephine Principal and Co-Owner of Buildcorp, which was established in 1990, with a turnover of $520 million.

She is currently a director of Opera Australia, the Centenary Institute, the Australian Rugby Foundation and the Sydney University Football Club Foundation, and is Chair of the Buildcorp Foundation. In October she will join the board of Growthpoint Properties Australia. She has previously been a director of The Trust Company and the YWCA NSW, where she served as Co-President. She serves on the Nominations Committee of the Australian Rugby Union and is President of Australian Women’s Rugby.

Through Buildcorp she has been a major sponsor of men’s and women’s rugby union for over 25 years. Josephine is an active member of Chief Executive Women.

She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Education.

Peter Johnson PSM

Peter left the role of Executive Director, People and Services, with the NSW Department of Education, following a 37 year career in public education. He had worked as a primary school teacher and principal, a demographic planner and in various human resources roles. He also relieved for extended periods as Deputy Director-General, leading the Department’s diverse Corporate Services team, as a member of the Department’s Executive.

He was an active participant in high level NSW and Federal government committees and working parties, and in recent years joined several not-for-profit boards.

Peter recently chaired an evaluation of the More Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Teachers Initiative, provided high level advice on strategies for the delivery of Closing the Gap education targets in remote Indigenous communities, presents training courses for school leaders and has engaged in a number of public sector and corporate consultancies.

Peter was awarded the Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2015 for outstanding public service to education in NSW.

 Jane Witter

Jane currently works as a General Manager, Commercial Agreements for one of Australia’s largest corporates.  Jane takes a values based leadership approach to managing divergent teams.  She has a strong interest in gender equality and has led a number of corporate initiatives in this space.

Jane has also practised as a commercial lawyer for over fifteen years including in the private, Government and corporate sector and Europe.  Her primary areas of legal expertise include commercial and telecommunications law and governance. She has also consistently championed pro bono work including leading the establishment of a corporate  pro bono practice and coordinating legal assistance to remote indigenous communities.

Jane is passionate about the Arts and the development of vibrant, inclusive communities for all.  Jane is currently the Chair of the Advisory Board of Riverside Theatres in Parramatta and also a member of Parramatta Council’s Light Rail Community and Business Advisory Committee.

 Stephanie Dale

Corporate CEO and Entrepreneur, Stephanie began her career in 1975 as a graphic designer in mainstream advertising and eventually became increasingly involved in Sales Promotion, including strategy, concept, design, production and project management until she reached the position of General Manager within RL Polk (an international company which, at the time, was one of the largest Direct Marketing production and database marketing companies in Australia. In January 1996 Polk was purchased by The Salmat Group).

It is worth noting here that Stephanie was the youngest and the first female General Manager in this field in Australia.

During an eighteen month period as General Manager Marketing with Response Systems International, an international Direct Response agency Stephanie moved into the financial market managing advertising accounts for large financial and insurance related organisations in Australia and New Zealand where she concentrated on the successful development of their database marketing and relationship marketing portfolios.

 Stewart Thompson  

Stewart is a partner of Deloitte’s Assurance and Advisory division based in Western Sydney. He is the Western Sydney Middle Market leader and leader of Clients Industries and Markets in Western Sydney.

Skills and Expertise

Stewart has over 25 years chartered accounting experience providing audit and assurance services and has been a partner since 2001 spending the majority of his career in Western Sydney. Stewarts service style is defined by the way he applies a combination of technical knowledge and lateral thinking to look at the big picture from his clients perspective. He applies a practical and hands on approach and is motivated by watching his clients grow to achieve their goals. Stewart provides an extensive range of audit and assurance services to both locally and foreign controlled enterprises focussed on the middle market. Stewart assists companies ranging from stand-alone entities to complex groups with turnovers in excess of $500 million per annum. Stewart has experience in a broad range of business industry sectors including transport and logistics, manufacturing, import and distribution, property and the Not-for-Profit sector.

Phillip Bates AM


Trustee since 2012

Phill Bates AM, is a family man, 66 years of age, married forty years to Barbara, and four married children with 8 grand children.  Phill has dedicated much of his life to the sport of cycling, is an entrepreneur, retailer and importer.  He staged the Commonwealth Bank International Cycle Classic for 20 years, Tour of Hawaii, World Cups, 1997 World Cycling Championships, Women’s Tour de Snowy, NSW International Grand Prix series – all world renowned cycling events and is a life member of Cycling NSW and Cycling Australia.

Awarded Order of Australia in 1998 for his contributions to the sport and to community and charitable organisations, he was the founding chairman of Bicycle NSW in 1975, and NSW Sport in 1992, another organisation that he is a life member of.  Phill, as public officer of the Cancer Care Centre Foundation, has helped raise in excess of $16 million to St George Cancer Care Centre, adding a Cancer Care Lodge in 1998, the first Prostate Cancer Institute in NSW in 2011 and the revamping of the Cancer Centre’s HODC area.  He has also raised millions of dollars for other organisations.  Phill remains passionate about improving the facilities for Parramatta Park.
