The People of Parra Park
King of the Speedway
I remember my dad, Stan Overton, taking me to Westmead Speedway when I was 8 or 9 years old. A fast dirt track and the best driver was Bib Stillwell racing in number 76. Thank goodness there were no wings on the cars. Drifting those powerful cars was a sight to see. I think Bib Stillwell had a mechanical workshop on Parramatta Road, opposite Hillston’s Holden car sales. I also remember going to the Parramatta Show, which was held on and near the Speedway track.
